Meet Summaries

Boys:  The boys opened with a solid performance by their top 4 and an excellent step-up performance by sophomore Charlie Deragon. Suffering a down-day, usual top team performer Brian Kane was unable to provide the tight 1-5 that might have spelled a top-5 finish. The team demonstrates it has the potential to battle the better sectional teams. In the JV race, excellent efforts by several runners served notice there will be competition for the top-7 team spots.

Girls: The girls demonstrated they will be a contender for top team status in the Section's Class A battle this season. In her first Cross-Country competition, freshman Elizabeth McMahon ran an excellent third place, besting several top state-ranked runners from Ithaca. With 4 runners in the top-14, this was a solid team effort. Freshman first-year runner Stephanie McGrath enjoyed a outstanding first race as she ran to 8th place in the JV competition.

Meet Summaries

Boys:  Despite some terrific individual efforts, notably freshman Mike Bott, the Boys Varsity continues to look for the total 1-7 team effort that will leap their overall competitiveness. It was a solid day, however, for the 5th place JV runners. Lead by Chris Juiliani's 18th place race, the boys ran a tight 10 second #2-4 team position, with Matt Cosgrove's team 5th picking up valuable team places.

Girls: The girls again demonstrated sectional strength with their 4th place as they were the only team beside the Large Schools race winner Fayetteville-Manlius to place their 1-4 runners in the top 20. The 5th runner gap, however, continues to be the Achilles heel for the Wildcats. The 'cats' fared well in the Merge results with a 7th place against all 41 sectional teams at the meet.

Girls: Determined to run well against one of the Section's top teams, the girls did better than just run well. Theirs was a tremendous team effort for an important win over rival CNS, with all runners challenging themselves and their opponents. Placing four Wildcats in the top 6 and bringing Liz Kratz across in a critical 10th spot demonstrated impressive team strength.

Girls: Running without team leader Elizabeth, the rest of the squad filled in nicely as the girls took place 1-4 and upped their dual-meet mark to 2-0.

Meet Summaries

Boys:  PR's were in abundance as they boys Varsity ran well in a surprisingly strong field. The 1-5 gap remained fairly tight as the top-7 continue to jockey positions. In the JV race, Charlie Deragon survived a minor off-course turn to capture 2nd place individual as that squad came with 7 points of a 2nd place finish and shows continual development and competitiveness. And the high winds proved no problem for Peter Marshall as he shattered his previous PR by about a minute and a half.

Girls: Despite an 'off-day' team performance, the girls raced to a 3rd place and a good 3rd in the total meet merge results. Freshman Elizabeth McMahon continues to improve with her ability to challenge the section's and state's best runners. Stephanie Bartlett, feeling ill, ran a true 'gut-race' in holding the team on track. Freshman Kristie Udovich and E.J. Reedy both returned from injury to post solid efforts.

Meet Summaries

Boys:  The boys were dominated by a solid, state-ranked Liverpool squad. Off days by two top-7 runners hurt the Wildcats in a close lose against Baldwinsville, a team they had just bested at the Tully Invitational four days earlier. Good signs for the boys, however, were the continuing improvement of sophomore Charlie Deragon and freshman Mike Bott, who ran #4 & #5 for the team respectively.

Girls: Against a deep and talented state-ranked Liverpool, the girls gave a great effort, with freshman Elizabeth McMahon demonstrating her sectional competitiveness with a 2nd place finish ahead of several top Liverpool runners. Junior Stephanie Bartlett continued her own improvement with an exceptional 3rd place effort. E.J. Reedy returned from injury to run #6 for the 'cats. Though falling in a close contest to Liverpool, the girls powered by Baldwinsville, placing four runners ahead of the B-ville #1.

Meet Summaries

Boys:  The Boys Varsity gave a game effort,  got out fast and into the thick of a big race pack but were unable to hold on in the backwoods loop. They finished, however, the top Section III team in their race. The Boys Junior Varsity enjoyed an terrific day in a huge field, placing four runners in the top 90 of the 200+ runner race to grab a excellent 8th place.

Girls: The Girls Junior Varsity team finish was unavailable, but the JV girls pushed hard after a slow start and getting caught behind the pack. Leah Webster fought her way up to a top-90 finish. Meanwhile, the Varsity raced very well, recording the first girls West Genesee race win at Manhattan in the school's history. Elizabeth McMahon led the team with an  impressive 3rd place individual finish(5th fastest WG girls all-time) and WG placed four runners in the top 30. Despite an off-day by Stephanie Bartlett, the Wildcats won a tight 118-120 victory over rival Auburn thanks to late-race heroics by Betsy Bubnack and all-out efforts by Erin Hennigan and Liz Kratz.

Meet Summaries

Boys:  The boys team had a rough day, with several team members not performing up to par. Some good individual efforts in this huge and fast-moving field, however, were logged by Dan Bott, Greg Allen, Mike Bott and Chris Juliani. The team will need to re-group and get everyone ready for the Sectional Championship. The Boys Varsity II(JV) team ran well again, with a tight grouping led by Ken Smith.

Girls: Like the boys, the girls stumbled in this race. Despite a 6th place in the large field, key runners had off days and the Wildcats were unable to challenge any top-5 teams. Elizabeth McMahon registered one of the best Wildcat OHSL individual finishes in the past decade with an excellent 8th place--for which she earned All-League honors. Another great step-up race belong to freshman Stephanie McGrath, who ran 5th for the team. For the Girls Varsity II(JV), Tiffany Marmon had a fine race leading that squad. Gutsy races were also registered by Kristie Udovich and Nichia Horvath, both returning from injury.

Meet Summaries

Boys:  The boys wrapped up their season with a solid team effort that came within only 5 points of 6th place in the Class race. The tight 1-5 times for the scoring team lead to an impressive Merge result where the boys garnered 15th in the entire Section III 61 team field and scored as the 6th place Class A squad. Finishing successful Wildcat XC 'careers' were Greg Allen, Dan Bott, Doug Petroff, Paul Schoeneck, Chris Juiliani and Brian Kane.

Girls: It was a day of good efforts as the girls raced to another team top-4 sectional finish in a very competitive field. The girls fared well in the merge result also, placing 8th in the 50 team Section III field. Terrific individual performances were Stephanie Bartlett's 8th place and Elizabeth McMahon's 3rd. Elizabeth out-legged several state top-40 runners to place a very impressive 5th in the 437 runner Section III merge results. Going into next Saturday's State Championship, she has proven herself the top freshman runner in Section III and one of the top 5 in New York State.
