Meet Summaries
Boys: Illness and sub-par performances among top-7 veterans spelled a tough opening day for the Wildcats. Indications of seasonal potential, however, were evident in strong first efforts by freshmans Nick Brandano on the Varsity squad and Joe Carothers, who lead the JV squad to a 3rd place finish.
Girls: 'First race shock' apparently got the best of this potentially excellent team. Veteran runners did not respond to middle race paces, but finished strong. A solid inaugural XC effort was registered by freshman Nichia Horvath in the JV race.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys raced a preview of this November's Sectional Championship, with most major teams competing. They continued their individual improvements in 5k times, with the 2nd fastest 9th grade Class A time registered by Nick Brandano running as 2nd man for the Wildcats. The top three all went under 18:00, with team captain Pete DiGennaro now aiming at an under 17:00 target.
Girls: What a difference a week can make. The girls team, steadily improving following last Saturday's tough opening day at Central Square, registered a solid team effort in placing 3rd behind state-ranked CNS and Liverpool. Despite an off- course incident that cost the Wildcats 8-10 places, the girls ran past #16 state ranked Whitesboro and traditional rival F-M.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys took it on the chin, combining an expected tough day against Liverpool with a mild upset at the hands of an aggressive, hungry RFA team. The Wildcats responded too late to an early challenge by the RFA runners, who filled the gap between WG's #3 and #4 runners.
Girls: Liverpool avenged three years of dual meet loses to the Wildcats with a dominating performance that included the top three spots. Only Stephanie Bartlett was able to respond to that lead pack. A #1-5 gap of almost 2:00 doomed the Wildcats, whose depth was, however, enough to outpace RFA.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys squads put in good days, with solid performances. A tighter #2-5 pack for the Wildcats Varsity served as foil for the superb front-running of Pete DiGennaro. John Kulak turned in an excellent individual effort, his best of the season.
Girls: In a very good field of state top-20 teams from New York, Ohio and elsewhere, the girls put together their best team performance of the season. Nina DiBattista registered her highest team finish with a solid start-to-finish effort. Stephanie Bartlett clocked the 5th fastest WG time on the McQuaid course.

Meet Summaries
Boys: An improving team effort lead to two victories and a 3-3 dual meet season for the Wildcats. Pete DiGennaro provided the excitement with a systematic pursuit of the Henninger lead runner that ended with Pete's winning surge in the final 400 meters. Greg Allen returned from weeks of illness-hampered running to notch a solid 4th place overall and 2nd for the team.
Girls: Victory was on the mind of the Bville Bees. A battle between Stephanie Bartlett and Bville front-runner Laura Scott fell Scott's way, but the following four places all belonged to the Wildcats as they raced to their 3rd and 4th dual meet victories and a seasonal 4-2 mark.

Meet Summaries
Boys: Solid races in adverse conditions were the norm for all three boys teams. The boys varsity continued to shift around its top-5, thanks to an improving effort by Justin Marsh. Doug Petroff shook off pre-race gastro-intestinal problems to record a top-20 place in the very large JV "A" race.
Girls: Stephanie Bartlett continued her climb into the upper ranks of Section III Class A runners with a strong start-to-finish effort and a top-20 finish. A tight 2-3-4 finish by Christina Phelan, Betsy Bubnack and Nina DiBattista keyed the girls to a 6th place finish, only 14 points out of 4th place.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys logged some solid efforts, with a 1-2 runner gap and a tough day in the mud for several runners costing them perhaps 2 team places. Their 9th place Class A finish was balanced with a 23rd place in the 62 team sectional merge results. An excellent step-up race was registered by Doug Petroff and some other strong Freshman-Junior showings bode well for 2003 Wildcats XC.
Girls: Following a tough OHSL outing, the girls rallied with a strong team effort and a hard-earned 4th place. In the 45 team sectional merge results, the girls placed an excellent 10th. Stephanie Bartlett and Betsy Bubnack demonstrated they are middle-distance forces to be reckoned with by placing 8th and 11th individually. The future looks bright for this young and talented team.
