Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys experienced a rougher than expected start to the 2001 campaign as they were unable to crack the top-5 as a team. Several good performance, however, point to overall team improvements in the coming weeks.
Girls: A strong 2nd place effort right out to the gate without a team top-5 runner and captain indicates the girls can again be a force in the Section III Class A race. Kerry Banazek led the team with a solid individual effort for 2nd place, while newcomer Monica Macro registered an 8th place for her first varsity XC race. Another newcomer, freshman Stephanie Bartlett, stepped in for an ill team member and ran 20th for her varsity debut.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys again saw some a mixed performance against a solid team effort by CNS whose top four established an early front pack and forced WG to play catch-up. Jeff Dugan accepted the challenge, running with the leaders and eventually closing on the lead CNS runners to finish 2nd. The boys Varsity stands 1-1 in dual meet contests.
Girls: This was a tight and highly contested race between two excellent teams, both with front-runners and strong top-5's. CNS held the early lead, with Kerry Banazek and Menard of CNS in front. Mid-way, Menard faded slightly and Parks of CNS moved up to challenge Banazek. Their side-by-side race was won by Banazek down the finish. A pivotal and deciding effort was registered by Nina DiBattista who moved from 9th to 4th at the finish. The gut run of the day, however, belonged to Monica Macro, who ran slightly sick and placed 6th. The girls team opens the dual meet season 2-0.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys continue gradual team improvements even as the 1-7 line-up shuffles slightly again. Jeff Dugan is proving himself a top Sectional runner with repeated solid place finishes and times. A tight 2-7 pack has been offset by their distance behind front-runner Dugan.
Girls: The already thin front six of this talented squad was forced to run without their #2 and #3 runners, and lacked the current depth to replace those key runners. Kerry Banazek continues to race at the top of Sectional runners, and both Christina Phelan and Stephanie Bartlett stepped up with top-18 finishes. Previously injured freshman, Erin Hennigan has begun steady improvements with each race.

Meet Summaries
Boys: A solid team effort, with the team still shifting their 1-7 runners. Jeff Dugan continues to excel, with another excellent effort as a race top runner, and Greg Allen continues to improve and move up on the team.
Girls: Despite the 2nd consecutive invitational without a full 1-5 effort, the girls proved themselves in an elite field containing 7 state top-20 teams. Kerry Banazek again led the charge, followed by Monica Macro's superb top-25 individual finish. Nina DiBattista and Stephanie Bartlett both had strong days while Christina Phelan fought sickness and still ran high enough to ensure the Wildcats a 4th place finish and a #9 State Class A ranking for the week.

Meet Summaries
Boys: A 3-6 team pack of Greg Allen, Pete DiGennaro, Sean Bartlett and Matt Winters proved the decisive difference as the boys ran their dual-meet record to 4-1on the 'Bees' home course. Senior Jeff Dugan ran away from other front-runners in the third mile to post his second dual meet individual victory. Rocco Paone posted an impressive performance for team 2nd place. Chad Evertz logged his first varsity race following an injury lay-off.
Girls: The #9 state ranked Wildcats took command after the first mile to outleg a strong, upset-minded Baldwinsville team and remain undefeated in dual meets at 5-0. Kerry Banazek opened a lead in mile 2 and never relinquished that enroute to the individual victory. The remaining Wildcat scorers--Monica Macro, Nina DiBattista, Christina Phelan, Stephanie Bartlett--ran #3-6 with a 7.4 second gap to seal the victory.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys had a difficult time coping with the power of depth of #3 state ranked Liverpool. Only Jeff Dugan was able to break into their top 7. The Wildcats fared better against RFA where a WG pack following RFA's lead runner gave them the victory and a 5-2 dual meet record. Both losses came against state top-20 teams.
Girls: Upset-minded #18th ranked Liverpool put up a solid effort, but Kerry Banazek's course record effort and important pack-running by the Wildcats following Liverpool's #2/3 runners ensured WG of a 7-0 dual meet season(they defeated RFA 16-44) and their 3rd consecutive National Division Championship. Congratulations ladies.

Meet Summaries
Boys: The boys brought home T-shirts with their 5th place finish despite a strange crash and fall by Rocco Paone in the Hills loop. Jeff Dugan was the lone top-20 scorer for the Wildcats, with a 6th place effort that featured a terrific move up in the Hills loop. Race officials and coaches agreed that times for mid-runners appeared to be 25-30 seconds slower than in 2000.
Girls: The girls also brought home T-shirts as well as their 2nd place trophy. Their effort was compromised by the lack of a focused team effort, but a fall on the course by Monica Macro also cost them points on first place Ithaca.

Meet Summaries
Boys: It was a tough end to a successful season for the boys despite some game efforts. Official scores also complicated the bad day by incorrectly placing 5th man, Sean Bartlett, an error which cost the Wildcats possibly a tie for 6th. Jeff Dugan failed in an attempt to qualify for states but finished the season as the #1 team runner in all races.
Girls: The 15th ranked girls bounced back from a poor OHSL performance to place 3rd behind #7 ranked F-M and ahead of #12 Liverpool. Disciplined, focused running by Monica Macro, Nina DiBattista and Stephanie Bartlett keyed the finish. Running ill, Kerry Banazek was unable to qualify for States. The girls return a solid core in 2002 and with Modified additions will be a State top-10 and Sectional champion contender.
